007 First Light sales driven by strong Steam and global demand
Roughly a third of the game’s day-one sales came from Steam, where it sold an estimated 500,000 copies and generated about $25 million in revenue, according to Alinea Analytics. About a third of those players had previously played a Hitman title, pointing to crossover from IO Interactive’s existing audience.
The U.S. accounted for 29% of Steam players, with China the second-largest market at 18%.
Alinea Analytics head of market analysis Rhys Elliott said the game’s PC performance stood out as another case of a console-focused franchise succeeding on Steam. He added that the early results were encouraging for Amazon, which controls the Bond rights and licensed the game to IO Interactive.
IO Interactive called the result a significant achievement for the studio, citing “overwhelming global enthusiasm” for the game.
