Yamaha R3 70th Anniversary Special Edition Unveiled

  • Celebratory edition R3 unveiled for international markets
  • Gets special red and white livery
  • Technical details remain the same as the standard model

Yamaha is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year by unveiling four road-going sportbikes donning special liveries, which will be available in 2026 in select international markets. Of these four bikes, the one which is available in India and has received the special visual treatment is the R3.

The 70th anniversary edition R3 sports a swanky red and white paint scheme on its fairing, fuel tank, and tail section. Particularly interesting-looking are the red-coloured tiles showcased on the side panels in 3D format, lending some depth to the graphics. There are some black patches too on the front fascia and at the bottom of the side fairing, while ‘R3’ and Yamaha logos sit proudly on top of the headlamp and fuel tank, respectively. Apart from these changes, the 70th anniversary edition of the bike remains the same as its standard iteration in all other areas.

Powering the R3 is a smooth yet characterful 321cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine that is good for 40.4bhp and 29.4Nm. As for hardware, the motorcycle is based on a diamond-type chassis, which rides on 17-inch alloys and is suspended by non-adjustable upside-down forks up front and a rear monoshock. Stopping power comes from a single disc at both ends with ABS. The latest model also comes equipped with a TFT screen and an assist and slipper clutch.

In India, the older model of the Yamaha R3 is on sale with a price tag of Rs. 3.39 Lakh, ex-showroom. The latest version is unlikely to come to our shores owing to the cold response it has received so far due to the steep price it carried in the initial phase of its launch.
