WTA Nottingham Best Bets Including Pliskova vs Bouzkova

The WTA Nottingham semifinal matches will be played on Saturday. The four players who have gotten this far have achieved an important goal: they have gained valuable match play on grass before Wimbledon. Players who get three matches in a week have gotten some match play, but those who make the semifinals get to play four matches with a chance for five. That should be plenty of action before Wimbledon, making it easier for these players to take next week off and rest for the trip to the All-England Club. Pliskova – Bouzkova: Time 6:00 EST

H2H: 2-1

Karolina Pliskova faces Marie Bouzkova in the featured match in Nottingham. Pliskova continues to rise in the rankings. She was outside the top 1,000 earlier this year. Then she got inside the top 200, then 100. Now, with her run to the Nottingham semifinals, she will be inside the top 80 next week. She beat Talia Gibson in straight sets on Friday in the quarterfinals. She is in a very good rhythm and is building confidence for Wimbledon. Marie Bouzkova is playing well, too. She beat grass specialist Tatjana Maria in straight sets on Friday in the quarterfinals, taking the second set 6-0. These are both in-form players, so it might be hard to make a call here. 

Best Bet to Make

The return of Karolina Pliskova to good form is a headline-generating story on the WTA Tour. However, Marie Bouzkova might be playing slightly better at the moment. Anyone who wins a 6-0 set against Tatjana Maria on grass is doing something right. You could go for over 2.5 sets here, knowing that you will always get great value for that bet. However, we think that since Bouzkova did not have to play a fully stressful match on Friday (only one set, not two), while Pliskova’s match against Gibson was much closer, Bouzkova will have a clear edge, if only a small one. We’re leaning toward Bouzkova moneyline here. If you wanted to go over 2.5 sets, that would not be a bad bet, but Bouzkova is our official play.

That being said, betting on Bouzkova winning is a value bet for sure.

Navarro – Golubic: Time 7:30 EST

H2H: 1–0

Emma Navarro faces Viktorija Golubic in Nottingham. Emma Navarro continues her strong run of recent form. She was really struggling in April but has been a very good player in May and June, stacking wins and looking a lot more like the player who rose on the tour a few years ago. She beat Jessica Bouzas Maneiro, an in-form opponent, in straight sets in the quarterfinals. Viktorija Golubic not only continues to win as a moneyline underdog but also with gutsy comebacks. Golubic was down a break in the third set to both Zeynep Sonmez and Ann Li in the past few days. She overcame both deficits to reach the semifinals. Golubic is showing a lot of toughness, and she needs to be taken seriously.

Best Bet to Make

We have lost twice in a row betting against Golubic, but we’re not convinced Golubic will beat Navarro outright, since Navarro is in excellent form. This is the time to use the over 2.5 set bet. Look at the results for these two players in the past few matches. Navarro has played three sets in three of her last four matches. Golubic has played three sets in each of her last three matches. We are convinced Golubic will win at least one set. It’s a way of giving her credit while being unsure she will ultimately beat Navarro over the course of three sets. It’s a good way to balance the perspectives of each player. It’s a middle-ground bet even though it carries a certain degree of risk. The price is unbeatable, as always. 

That being said, betting on over 2.5 sets is a value bet for sure.
