Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Vishwambhara, directed by Vasshista, has been stuck in production hell. The film’s teaser received an outright negative response for its poor CGI, and since then, the team has been reworking that aspect. At a press meet, the film’s cinematographer, Chota K. Naidu, was asked about the role of a DOP in a CGI-heavy film.
Chota K Naidu said, “It doesn’t matter who the DOP is; the most important person is the CGI technician. The cameraman is in no way related to the success or failure of the CGI. We ask them what they need and work accordingly. I won’t say I am an expert just because I did Anji and Damarukam. Even if the lighting is not perfectly aligned, we just follow what CGI technicians say, because they might later complain that we didn’t cooperate.”
He further added, “However, we bear the brunt if the quality isn’t good. These days, VFX-heavy films have a dedicated CGI technician present on the set, and Vishwambhara is no different. He travels with us throughout the shoot. The film is being made on a massive budget of around Rs. 400 crore with extensive VFX work. I cannot show ego or throw tantrums there. I worked with complete dedication, and we are taking time to deliver the best output.”
