Veteran comedian Dinesh Hingoo has once again found himself in the spotlight after a recent viral video sparked concern about his health and financial condition. The 86-year-old actor, known for his work across hundreds of films, was seen in the viral clip speaking candidly about continuing to work and needing money for medical expenses. His remarks quickly led to widespread speculation that he was struggling financially.

In the video, Hingoo shared that he still accepts work whenever opportunities come his way. He explained that medical expenses can be high and unpredictable, sometimes requiring thousands of rupees for doctor visits. The actor also pointed out a long-standing issue in the industry, noting that character artists often do not receive substantial pay despite their contributions.
“Character artists ko lekin paise milte nahi hain zaada. I worked with black and white films with Bharat Bhushan. I started getting work after Qurbani. However, the situation soon took a different turn after clarification from his family. Hingoo’s wife, Jamuna Hingoo, recently addressed the rumours and reassured everyone that the actor is doing well. As reported by TOI, according to her, the family is financially stable, with their children and grandchildren well settled. She emphasised that there had been a misunderstanding based on the viral clip and expressed gratitude to those who reached out with concern.The clarification was shared by industry member Rajesh Vasani, who personally contacted the family to verify the claims. In his update, Vasani stated that Jamuna Hingoo confirmed there was no financial crisis and that the actor continues to work out of passion rather than necessity. She also thanked the industry and fans for remembering Hingoo and appreciating his decades-long contribution to cinema.
The viral video had, in fact, triggered immediate responses from several prominent figures in the film industry. He reported, “I also thank and acknowledge everyone who instantly came forward to support the cause, such as Rakesh Roshan, Boney Kapoor and many others, including our association. There was even a call from Amitabh Bachchan’s office offering support. However, after verifying the facts with his wife, I conveyed my thanks and informed them that the family is well-settled and no assistance is required.”

For those unfamiliar with his journey, Dinesh Hingoo has had a remarkable career spanning several decades. Born in 1940 in Baroda, Gujarat, he began his acting journey in theatre during his college years. His passion for performance eventually brought him to Mumbai, where he faced initial struggles before finding opportunities in Gujarati theatre. He later made his film debut with Taqdeer, produced by Rajshri Productions, interestingly starting out in a negative role rather than comedy.

Over the years, Dinesh built a strong reputation as a dependable character actor, appearing in more than 300 films across multiple languages, including Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi, and Bhojpuri. His filmography includes popular titles such as Namak Halaal, Karan Arjun, Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, Baazigar, and Phir Hera Pheri. In addition to films, he has also appeared in several television shows.
