Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner attended the Oscars last night, and naturally lip readers wasted no time analyzing their conversations. On top of Timmy being (allegedly!) heard asking his sister, Pauline Chalamet, to “go easy” on Kylie, he and Kylie were also seen having a private chat in the front row.
According to lip reading expert Nicola Hickling in the Daily Mail, Timothée said “I hate this” to Kylie, while she replied “We’re all right, okay?” He then responded “Yeah” and after she said “I hope so,” he added “Tonight I need a big cuddle.”
Timothée—who was nominated for Best Actor in Marty Supreme—was the butt of several jokes throughout the night thanks to his comments about the ballet and opera in the weeks before the Oscars. In fact, mere moments into his monologue, host Conan O’Brien said, “I’m told there’s concern about attacks from both the opera and ballet communities. They’re just mad you left out jazz.”
The joke was in response to Timmy’s viral conversation with Matthew McConaughey, when he took a shot at opera and ballet, saying, “I don’t want to be working in ballet or opera where it’s like, ‘Hey, keep this thing alive, even though no one cares about this anymore.’”
Timothée hasn’t commented on the backlash, but he seemed to have a pretty good attitude about all the jokes at the Oscars, for what it’s worth.
