Three players who have to be dropped after PSG disaster

Chelsea do not have long to digest their damning defeat to PSG in the Champions League before they are back in Premier League action against Newcastle, and Liam Rosenior has to make some changes to his starting side.

The Blues ended up losing 5-2 after a late capitulation, kicked off by a Filip Jorgensen error that has seen plenty of criticism come his way.

Chelsea have a mountain to climb in the second leg, but before then will face Newcastle, who have just been in Champions League action against Barcelona.

Liam Rosenior needs to stop changing formations and tactics every two minutes 😡

How must the players feel?

Chelsea predicted XI vs Newcastle

The Chelsea Chronicle have predicted the XI Rosenior will start at Stamford Bridge against Eddie Howe’s side.

Robert Sanchez will be one of the first names back on the teamsheet for the challenge of Newcastle. He should also keep his place for the second leg against PSG.

Malo Gusto was one of the few positives throughout the 90 minutes for Chelsea, and he will keep his place in the starting XI.

Wesley Fofana was the better of the two centre-backs in a tough evening in Paris, and will keep his place in the side but have a new defensive partner.

This will be Mamadou Sarr, who is already impressing Rosenior in his early stages as a Chelsea player after his loan at Strasbourg was cut short.

Marc Cucurella will remain in the starting side, although is back under pressure with his performances due to the excellent form of Jorrel Hato.

The midfield was one of the strong points in France, and Moises Caicedo will start after impressing with his ability to win the ball back against the holders.

Reece James will drop out, more to do with his fitness than a reflection of his performance on Wednesday night. The very able Andrey Santos will replace him.

Enzo Fernandez was back amongst the goals against PSG, and certainly looks a more useful player when he features in a central role. He will start there again against Newcastle.

What should Liam Rosenior’s next move be?🤔

Off the right, Cole Palmer will start again. It was clear how PSG feared Chelsea’s star man in how they set up against him in the Champions League.

Pedro Neto will be replaced by Alejandro Garnacho, who will perhaps feel hard done by that he didn’t start midweek after his return to form of late.

Up front again will be Joao Pedro. He is proving brilliant of late, but is getting no competition at all from Liam Delap at the moment.
