The BCCI Naman Awards honoured Shubman Gill and Smriti Mandhana as Best International Cricketers. Legends Binny, Dravid, and Raj got the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Broadcasters Trolled For Massive Blunder
The BCCI Naman Awards brought the luminaries of Indian cricket together as the board honoured both current and former players for their contributions. The event saw the attendance of players from the men’s team, the women’s team, and the under-19 team, alongside BCCI officials.
Amidst the celebrations of these cricketing achievements, fans quickly identified a significant error by the event’s official broadcasters. During a segment where the captains of the men’s and women’s teams were invited on stage for a discussion, Harmanpreet Kaur shared her thoughts on her team’s historic World Cup victory last year, while Suryakumar Yadav discussed India’s recent T20 World Cup triumph.
However, the mistake occurred when Gill was asked about India’s Champions Trophy victory. The on-screen graphics incorrectly displayed his designation as the title ‘Winning Captain, ICC Champions Trophy 2025.’
India clinched the Champions Trophy by defeating New Zealand in the final, securing the title under Rohit Sharma’s leadership. Gill was part of the squad. The opening batter was later promoted as the new ODI skipper, ahead of the tour of Australia, where Rohit and Virat Kohli played under his leadership.
Fans on social media were quick to notice the error and took to trolling the broadcasters for the blunder. Later, the BCCI removed that clip from their official handle.

In recognition of their stellar performances during the 2024–2025 season, Shubman Gill and Smriti Mandhana were named the Best International Cricketers (Men’s and Women’s) at the BCCI Naman Awards 2026 on Sunday.
Gill received the esteemed Polly Umrigar Award, marking his second Cricketer of the Year honour, having first won it in 2023. Mandhana, on the other hand, was awarded the Best International Cricketer for the fifth time.
The event also honoured former cricket legends Roger Binny, Rahul Dravid, and Mithali Raj with the Col. C. K. Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award, the highest accolade given by the BCCI, for their remarkable contributions to Indian cricket.
Additionally, India’s five trophy-winning teams were celebrated: the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup, the 2025 U-19 Women’s World Cup, the 2026 Men’s U-19 World Cup, and the 2026 T20 World Cup.
