Samsung solidifies its digital identity platform through MilliPass launch
Operated by the Korea Special Information Certification Agency, MilliPass is a mobile identity verification platform. It is for soldiers of the Republic of Korea Army, Navy, and Marine Corps, as well as their family members. Around 1.1 million people are already using MilliPass. By bringing it to Samsung Wallet, Samsung aims to improve welfare support for the military community.
In recent years, Samsung Wallet has already expanded its presence as a digital identity platform. The wallet supports a bunch of mobile IDs, such as student IDs and driver’s licenses, with the same legal effect as physical IDs. Thanks to the addition of MilliPass, military identification now become more convenient as well.
For example, Military personnel can now quickly confirm their identity at military marts, welfare facilities, and sports facilities. This eliminates the need to show multiple documents. Furthermore, some external convenience facilities that offer military discounts now accept Samsung Wallet MilliPass.
Samsung is also offering Samsung Wallet Points to celebrate the launch of MilliPass on Samsung Wallet. Eligible users can participate in the promotion by adding MilliPass to their wallet (they should see the option to add after updating the app). You can use these points like cash for future payments at all offline card merchants.

Apart from reward points, Samsung Wallet MilliPass users can enjoy over 220,000 pieces of reading content, including e-books, audiobooks, and web novels. The best thing the service does not store personal information on servers. Moreover, it is protected by an in-house KNOX security solution.
“This service is expected to accelerate the digital transformation of military life and greatly improve the convenience of daily life,” said Vice President Chae Won-cheol, head of the Digital Wallet Team at Samsung Electronics’ MX Business Division. “Samsung Electronics plans to continue expanding services that enhance the convenience and security of military life.”
