Former Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim previously heaped praise on Everton star Iliman Ndiaye. The Manchester Evening News reports United have placed the forward on their transfer shortlist as part of their plans to bring in a left-winger during the summer transfer window.

Ndiaye, 26, has become the Toffees’ standout performer across his two campaigns at the club and received special recognition from Amorim ahead of the two sides’ meeting at Old Trafford last November.

The Portuguese boss singled out the Senegal international as one of two players capable of wreaking havoc among the United defence. Amorim said: “I think [Jack] Grealish is doing really well. He can push that team, can give weight to that team. [Iliman] Ndiaye is an amazing player.

“So, all these things, [it] is a more complete team, and David Moyes is doing an amazing job. It’s going to be really, really tough to win the game.” Moyes’ side went on to secure a remarkable 1-0 triumph despite spending most of the match with 10 men following the dismissal of Idrissa Gana Gueye for slapping former United ace Michael Keane.

Ndiaye netted six league goals and chipped in with three assists this season, with United looking to strengthen their attacking options upon their return to Champions League football.

The adaptable forward – capable of operating on either flank or as a No.10 – is expected to feature for Senegal this week when they take on Saudi Arabia in a friendly on Wednesday prior to the World Cup 2026. A strong showing at the tournament could push his asking price even higher.

With three years remaining on his Everton contract, he could represent the more affordable route for United, who have also registered interest in RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, alongside Aston Villa talisman Morgan Rogers.

The Ivory Coast star is firmly in Liverpool’s sights, with the Merseyside club leading the chase for his signature – though Leipzig have slapped a staggering £86million price tag on the 19-year-old.

Rogers’ future at Villa remains up in the air, with several of the Premier League’s top sides keeping close tabs on his situation, as the Europa League champions are reportedly weighing up cashing in on the England ace, with figures of £80m being mentioned.

Meanwhile, United are closing in on their first signing of the summer, having struck a deal with Atalanta for Brazilian midfielder Ederson. The 26-year-old is set to make the move to Old Trafford for an initial £35million, filling the void left by Casemiro’s absence last month – though his recent inclusion in Brazil’s World Cup squad means United are now working to revised timelines to finalise the switch.

The club are still actively seeking at least one additional midfielder as they brace themselves for the expected exit of Manuel Ugarte, following a frustrating two-year stint in Manchester.
