Poor Start for PS5 Exclusive Saros as First Sales Data Emerges

Posted on

Sales numbers for video games aren’t often made public unless they hit major milestones or are particularly impressive; otherwise, we’re relying on charts and estimates to try and glean how well a game is selling.

That’s where we are with Saros, Sony’s latest first-party PS5 game that officially launched a few days ago, on 30th April 2026.

Based on the information available so far, it would appear the game has had a somewhat slow start.

The PS Blog has published the PS Store charts for the month of April, where Saros is positioned at 11th in North America and 17th in Europe.

Now, obviously, the game only had a few days on sale in April (if you include the Digital Deluxe Edition’s 48-hour early access), but it’s still not a particularly strong debut.

Game sales for high-profile releases like this typically spike right at the start and tail off quite dramatically, so it’s difficult to say that it’ll fare better in May’s chart.

In the UK’s physical games chart, Saros debuted in third place, behind Nintendo’s Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream and Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition.

To be fair, on Amazon, Saros is currently the number one new release in PS5 games, so it’s not all doom and gloom.

One thing that’s always worth pointing out is that sales expectations for every game are different; Sony won’t be slapping Housemarque’s wrist if it doesn’t do Marvel’s Spider-Man numbers. With its budget estimated to be around €70 million, it won’t take as many sales for Saros to recoup its costs.

Frustratingly, we’ll have to wait for official sales numbers to emerge if we’re to get any real idea of how Saros is faring.
