Years after advocating for body positivity, at the Oscars this year, there was a return to the ‘heroin chic’ bodies of the 1990s, with protruding cheekbones, visible rib cages, stick-thin arms, and a competitive chasing of thinner and thinner frames. However, Demi Moore, Emma Stone, and Nicole Kidman were among those who looked especially emaciated as they walked the carpet. Joining them as fellow super-skinny sisters were Barbie Ferreira, as well as veteran actors like Kathy Bates and Melissa McCarthy, who both, for many years, had famously fuller figures.
