Max Eberl provides injury updates on Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala, Alphonso Davies and Jonas Urbig

Even in the midst of a record-breaking season, injuries are unavoidable—a truth Bayern Munich have not been able to escape. Coming into their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 clash against Atalanta, Bayern already had Hiroki Ito, Manuel Neuer and Harry Kane on the injury list. Following their gargantuan 6-1 triumph in Bergamo, Die Rekordmeister can add three fresh additions to their list of wounded: Alphonso Davies, Jamal Musiala and Jonas Urbig.

Addressing Abendzeitung’s Patrick Strasser in a post-match interview, Bayern board member for sport, Max Eberl, shed some light on his side’s latest victims to the unjust injury gods.

”Jamal Musiala’s injury is the least serious; it was more of a precautionary measure,” explained a semi-relieved Eberl (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “Phonzy Davies’ is unfortunately another muscular issue,” Eberl went on to explain. “I’m not sure about Jonas Urbig; he was a bit dazed and had a headache.”

Spring is upon us, and you know what that means at Bayern: injuries. While the verdict is still out on Musiala and Urbig, ‘Phonzie’ looks bound to the sidelines for a few weeks—at least. That takes Bayern’s tally of injured up to six, a mini injury crisis.

There may not be a team in the world that can stop Bayern right now. But, injury is not a team. It’s the annual spanner in the works that always comes at the worst time; and it’s working around the clock to disrupt, dismantle, and destroy Bayern’s season once again.
