The troubling medical condition appeared when Jessey was only around ten years old and still studying in school. Initially, the family struggled to understand what exactly was wrong. She remembered feeling an overwhelming sense of responsibility toward her younger brother. The family initially sought medical help in Mumbai, hoping surgery would remove the tumour and restore Jessey’s health. However, the first operation did not bring the expected results. The unsuccessful procedure left the family shaken and worried about the future.
Eventually, another surgery was planned in the United States. That operation was extremely complex and lasted for many hours. Altogether, Jessey’s journey through treatment and recovery stretched over nearly two years, placing enormous emotional strain on the entire family.
Turning to Faith in Difficult Times
During this uncertain phase, the Lever household found comfort in spirituality and prayer. The experience pushed them to lean heavily on faith as they searched for hope. According to Jamie, family members spent long hours praying together, and many well-wishers also joined them at their home to offer prayers and encouragement.
When Jessey travelled to America with their parents for the second surgery, Jamie remained in India. She remembered that the family prayed continuously during that time, hoping for a miracle and a successful outcome.
A Moment of Divine Guidance
One of the most emotional memories from that difficult period involved Johnny Lever himself. Before deciding on the second operation, the comedian reportedly knelt down and prayed for guidance about whether his son should undergo another risky procedure. In that moment of intense emotion, he felt reassured, as though he had received a sign encouraging him to move forward with the treatment.
An Unexpected Sign in America
Interestingly, the journey to the United States had not originally been arranged for medical reasons. The family had travelled there for a summer vacation, hoping to fulfil some of Jessey’s wishes while he was still unwell.
During their stay, they visited a church where a priest noticed the boy’s condition and asked about it. After hearing the details, the priest suggested a specific hospital and expressed confidence that the child would recover. The family interpreted this moment as a divine signal and immediately pursued the recommendation. The surgery performed there turned out to be successful, and Jessey eventually regained his health.
Gratitude Through Faith and Music
The experience left a lasting impact on the Lever family. As a way of expressing gratitude for what they believe was a miraculous recovery, the siblings continue to stay connected to their spiritual roots.
