Many people are searching if markets will be closed due to festivals. The simple answer is no.

March 19 (Gudi Padwa, Ugadi): Market open

March 19 & 27 (Chaitra Navratri): Market open

March 20 or 21 (Eid-al-Fitr, expected): Market open

All segments will work normally. This includes equities, derivatives, currency and commodities.

Why markets do not close

Stock market holidays are decided separately. They do not depend on all public holidays.

NSE and BSE follow a fixed holiday list for the full year. Only a few major festivals are included in that list.

Because of this, markets can stay open even when banks are closed in some states.

No change for traders

There will be no change in trading this week. Market timings will remain the same.

Investors can buy and sell shares normally. Settlement and expiry cycles will also continue as usual.

Holidays left in March

After Holi on March 3, only two trading holidays are left in the month:

March 31: Mahavir Jayanti

All other closures are weekends.
