Actor Harshvarrdhan Kapoor has addressed speculation surrounding his apparent absence from the screen, clarifying that he has not stepped away from acting and has instead been working on a new project for the past few years. The conversation began on June 8, 2026, when a social media user questioned why the actor appeared to have distanced himself from acting despite receiving praise for his performances.

The user wrote that while his films may not have become major commercial successes, his work had been widely appreciated and audiences would like to see him return to the screen. Responding to the post, Harshvarrdhan dismissed the notion that he had quit acting and explained the lengthy timeline behind the kind of projects he chooses to pursue.
“I haven’t stepped back at all been working on a new one since the day Thar released it took 5 years to get Thar made .. it took many years for Bhavesh to make and its taken me 2-3 years now to finish this film ok working on which I finish filming on June 30 th.. I’m also producing it,” he wrote.
The actor also pointed out that audiences are often accustomed to seeing mainstream stars release multiple projects every year. According to him, films such as Bhavesh Joshi Superhero, Thar, AK vs AK and Ray require considerably more time to develop and complete.
“I guess people are used to actors doing multiple films a year .. if you want films like Bhavesh and Thar and Ak vs Ak/ Ray it’s not gonna happen once or twice a year that’s just the reality,” he added. Harshvarrdhan concluded his response by expressing confidence in his upcoming venture. “But thank you and the new film is the best one yet 100 percent its extremely unique.”

The actor made his debut with Mirzya, directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. Before entering acting, he worked as an assistant director on Bombay Velvet under Anurag Kashyap.
His most recent acting project remains Thar, a Netflix neo-western thriller that also starred Anil Kapoor. In addition to acting in the film, Harshvarrdhan also served as a producer. The project earned appreciation for its unconventional storytelling and visual style.
