Manchester United were linked with Borussia Dortmund star Felix Nmecha as a possible midfield signing in 2026.
The list of midfield targets on Manchester United’s radar is ever-expanding, but a move for Felix Nmecha now seems extremely unlikely.
Nmecha is a long-term target for United dating back to 2024, and ahead of a midfield rebuild in the summer, the 25-year-old star was once again linked with a move to Old Trafford.
But Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Nmecha is set to sign a new contract with Borussia Dortmund, which means a United move is off the cards.

Felix Nmecha ends Man Utd speculation with new deal
United were linked with Nmecha and reports suggested he had a price tag of around £52 million ahead of the summer window.
But Romano’s latest update claims Nmecha has a “deal agreed” for a new contract running until 2030, which should rule out any move for the midfielder.
Manchester City were also linked with Nmecha, but Romano confirmed that no talks ever took place between City and the player.
Nmecha joined Dortmund in 2023 when United were first showing interest, and it seems he is happy to continue his career at the German club in the long term.
IF Elliot Anderson signs for Man City, who would be your TOP PRIORITY midfield alternative?
Man United’s midfield shortlist is almost complete
Once it became clear that United would overhaul their midfield following the announcement of Casemiro’s departure, the Red Devils began to be linked with every midfielder around Europe.
But as we approach the business end of the 2025/26 season, it’s quickly becoming clear where the interest is concrete.
Elliot Anderson is United’s top target, but rival interest from Manchester City complicates a deal. Ineos seem to want Premier League experience, so Carlos Baleba and Adam Wharton remain top candidates.

United are expected to sign several midfielders in the summer, so links to the likes of James Garner, Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes also make sense.
More recently, United have been linked to Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga of Real Madrid.
