Manchester United have an interest in signing Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United this summer, a loss that would leave Eddie Howe reeling in the North East.
If Manchester United really wants to make a splash this summer, nabbing one of Newcastle’s best players would be a fine way to go about telling the league we are back.
Sandro Tonali has become increasingly linked with a move to United; however, he reportedly would cost an eye-watering £87m this summer.
It would send shockwaves around the league if a deal did go through. Now, Eddie Howe has had his say on potentially losing Tonali.

What are your thoughts on Manchester United’s supposed interest in Sandro Tonali?
Where should he rank in comparison to other central midfield targets?
Eddie Howe reacts to potential Sandro Tonali exit from Newcastle
With Newcastle set for a year out of the Champions League, they could financially need to sell a star player, and it seems Tonali is the most likely. However, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano, Howe has claimed Tonali is still committed to the Magpies.
“The person that matters the most is Sandro. I see him totally committed”.
“He’s here for the team, not for himself. Forget the noise around him, he’s just fully committed”.
Of course, Howe was never going to declare Tonali’s exit with eight Premier League games and a Champions League second leg still to play.
But Tonali’s agent discussed a move last week and explained that Tonali aims to play for the biggest teams in the world.
Of course, if Roy Keane gets his way, Tonali and Howe might both be at United.

United have been linked with Tonali, Gordon, Thiaw, Hall and Guimarães. But which makes most sense?
Matthijs de Ligt could have a secret part to play for Manchester United in Tonali signing
United clearly hasn’t made a decision on which midfielder will be signed this summer. But if Tonali is the choice, then Matthijs de Ligt may be an unlikely secret agent for United.
This is because De Ligt once gave Tonali advice for his career, back when he played for Brescia.
“I was in Sardinia with Cistana and Torregrossa, the Brescia group,” said Tonali in his interview with Cronache di Spogliatoio via IlBianconero.
“It was the period in which I was negotiating with Milan. We met De Ligt in a restaurant, and he spoke highly of Juventus and advised me to think about it. De Ligt and I had stopped to talk after a match; it was my first year in Serie A.
“During that summer, I ended up in the newspapers, because it was difficult for me to return to Serie B with Brescia. Milan, Inter, and Juve were all involved in the race. Everyone was telling me: ‘Come to Inter, come to Milan, come to Juve.’”
Hopefully, Tonali would take De Ligt’s recommendation on this occasion and not snub him for a second time.
