Following the recent scandal surrounding Elon Musk’s Grok, which allowed users to create sexualized versions of any image of a person in X, researchers have discovered that dozens of similar services are still available on the App Store and Google Play, according to the Tech Transparency Project (TTP) .

Although such apps clearly violate the rules of the App Store and Google Play, there are over 100 of them on both platforms. In particular, TTP found 47 apps capable of generating sexualized images on the App Store, and 55 on Google Play.

In total, these apps have been downloaded over 705 million times globally on both platforms, generating $117 million in revenue for their developers. Some of them are even marketed to children ages 4 to 9 and, at first glance, seem like simple apps for creating cute images, but in reality, they have much more capabilities.

Interestingly, for the search query “nudify,” which refers to creating sexualized images or videos, the first organic result in the App Store was Grok , even though xAI had previously restricted this option to all users.

Both Google Play and the App Store have clear rules prohibiting such applications, but both platforms, even after the high-profile Grok scandal, are in no hurry to remove them.

In a statement to CNBC, which also covered the TTP report, Apple said it had already removed 28 of the apps (TTP counted 25) and sent warnings to developers. Google also confirmed it had removed some of the services, which TTP estimated were 35.
