Barcelona add 12-goal disgruntled PSG forward to their shortlist – report
FC Barcelona are scanning the transfer market for a new centre-forward to bolster their attacking department next season.
With Robert Lewandowski expected to leave at the expiry of his contract, the Catalans will need to bring in a replacement.
Julian Alvarez of Atletico Madrid is seen as the priority target, but a move for him is complicated by several factors.
Chelsea star Joao Pedro has been identified as an alternative, but the Blues are unlikely to sell the Brazilian only a year after signing him.
Barcelona eye Goncalo Ramos
Given the situation, Teamtalk (h/t Mundo Deportivo) reports that Barcelona have now added PSG striker Goncalo Ramos to their shortlist for the summer.
The Blaugrana are aware that Chelsea will not allow Joao Pedro to leave and have, therefore, set their sights on the Portuguese striker.
As per the report, PSG would be open to letting Ramos depart this summer as he is not an integral part of Luis Enrique’s plans.
The Portuguese forward was signed from SL Benfica in the summer of 2024 for €65 million after spending a year on loan at the French capital club.
However, he is said to be unhappy with his role as a substitute under Enrique. This season, he has scored 12 goals in 41 appearances. He has not started even a single Champions League match this term and has featured from kickoff in only 12 Ligue 1 games.
Given the scenario, Barcelona potentially view the 24-year-old Ramos as a market opportunity for their attack.
The Portuguese international’s current contract with PSG runs until 2028 and contains a release clause worth €120 million.
However, considering his current status in the team, a sale could be possible for a much lower fee. Whether Barcelona view him as a serious option for the summer remains to be seen.
