Ariana Grande Secretly Broke Up With Ethan Slater Months Ago

Ariana Grande just started her “Eternal Sunshine” tour, and she’s apparently doing it as a single woman.

Both TMZ and People are reporting that the singer of “Thank U, Next” ended her three-year relationship with “Wicked” co-star Ethan Slater several months ago.

TMZ noted Slater did not attend the opening show of Grande’s tour Saturday night in Oakland, but a source close to the couple told People there is no bad blood.

“It’s amicable, they gave lots of time and careful consideration and decided to go their separate ways,” the source told People. “They are still friends and very supportive of one another. They have been quietly broken up for several months.”

The source also stressed that the 32-year-old singer is “doing great” under the circumstances.

The couple first announced they were an item back in July 2023, right after Grande announced she was divorcing her husband of two years, real estate broker Dalton Gomez.

Their divorce was finalized in March 2024.

Slater was married to therapist Lilly Jay at the time he met Grande. He shares a son with her. Their divorce was settled in September 2024.

He admitted to GQ a month later that falling in love with Grande in front of the world was “really hard,” and admitted it was “really difficult” to have “things in your private life being commented on and looked at by the public.”

In an essay for “The Cut” published in December 2024, Jay said she experienced “a season of shock and mourning” as a result of the breakup, but that it came in waves.

“As for me, days with my son are sunny. Days when I can’t escape the promotion of a movie associated with the saddest days of my life are darker,” she said.

Grande admitted to the Hollywood Reporter in February 2025 that the gossip surrounding her relationship with Slater will “never be unpainful,” but said she walks “with the awareness that I’m an artist and this is a path that I’ve chosen, and so I just try to protect myself so that I never start to resent the art.”
