Bukayo Saka actually repeated unwanted history against Brighton, Thomas Tuchel won’t be happy

Bukayo Saka was incredibly influential in Arsenal’s win over Brighton, but one thing was missing.

The winger secured his sixth goal contribution of the Premier League season against Brighton, assisting Martin Odegaard’s goal.

It was a top performance on the right side for Saka, who was undoubtedly one of Arsenal’s standouts on the day at the Emirates.

There was, however, one problem that was impossible to ignore, and that was that the Englishman didn’t find himself on the scoresheet.

Bukayo Saka repeated history by not scoring against Brighton

Saka has put on a show in recent Premier League fixtures; however, his last goal in the competition came almost a month ago.

Several times against Brighton, the 24-year-old looked as though he’d score, but he didn’t, resulting in him repeating history.

Saka’s seven shots against Brighton were the most by an Arsenal player in the Premier League without scoring in 14 months.

Ironically, the last time it happened was when Saka had seven shots on goal against Leicester City in September 2024.

The England international dazzled in some areas against Brighton, but his finishing let him down, with only 28% of his shots being on target.

At a time when Arsenal are lacking conviction in the final third, all eyes are on Mikel Arteta’s forwards to step up, something Saka needs to improve as much as most.

Saka will be wary of Thomas Tuchel’s demand

It’s not only the Arsenal manager who will want to see more goals from Saka, but Thomas Tuchel too.

Tuchel wants Saka to score more, already taking aim at the Arsenal star’s record for England.

If the England boss tuned into the Gunners’ win against Brighton, there’s a good chance he would’ve taken note of Saka’s seven shots with no outcome.

The winger will know more than anyone how his output in front of goal needs to improve, which is the same message every Arsenal player will be relaying to himself.
