Manoj Bajpayee’s Governor, directed by Chinmay D. Mandlekar, added Rs. 1 crore to the tally on its Day 2, bringing the two-day cume to Rs. 1.70 crore nett at the Indian box office. The financial thriller drama is looking to close its first weekend around Rs. 2.50 to 3 crore nett in India, which will be a dull weekend total to say the least.
The movie should hold strong on weekdays in order to reach a respectable total. For now, Governor is expected to wind up its entire theatrical run under the Rs. 10 crore nett mark. That said, the movie is heading for a disastrous end at the Indian box office.
The movie garnered a mixed-bag reaction among the audience, which is one of the major reasons why it is struggling. Had the film received better word-of-mouth, its box office picture could have been slightly better.
Manoj Bajpayee’s previous theatrical releases were Jugnuma and Bhaiyya Ji. While the former was an indie film, the latter had mass appeal. However, none of them could see a promising run at the box office. That said, Manoj Bajpayee is yet to deliver a solo Clean Hit film. Though it doesn’t take away the fact that he is a legend on OTT, probably the biggest star on streaming platforms.
Box Office Collections of Governor in India are as follows:
| Day | Box Office |
| Day 1 | Rs. 0.70 crore |
| Day 2 | Rs. 1.00 crore |
| Total | Rs. 1.70 crore nett |
