Telugu film Peddi continued with strong holds in the Telugu states on Monday, with the film collecting Rs. 15.75 crore approx at the Indian box office, of which APTS made Rs. 12.75 crore approx. The five-day running total is just short of the Rs. 200 crore mark, at Rs. 198.50 crore approx. The Telugu states topped the Rs. 150 crore mark and are now racing towards Rs. 200 crore milestone, which shall be breached in the second weekend.
The drop on Monday from Friday was about 50 per cent, with the Telugu states faring even better at a sub-50 per cent drop. Once again, Coastal Andhra districts were the best performer, with a fantastic Rs. 6.75 crore Monday, dropping just 38 per cent from Friday. Monday in these districts was well ahead of Pushpa 2 and Kalki 2898 AD, both of which were just under Rs. 6 crore. The holds were good in Ceded and Nizam as well.
Peddi is on course to do BLOCKBUSTER business in the Telugu states, thanks to Coastal Andhra districts. Elsewhere, Karnataka has done decently well, but everywhere else is a disappointment. The film is also carrying big production costs. While the producers have covered themselves by selling the distribution rights to third-party distributors, some of whom are going to incur heavy losses, especially overseas. Overall, it’s not a lost cause yet, as it needs to be seen where it ends.
The film doesn’t need to have those high costs for what it is. For the costs that the film has, it needed to score in the Hindi market, but the Hindi dubbed version has failed to make an impact.
The Territorial Breakdown for the Box Office Collections of Peddi in India is as follows:
