Director Venky Atluri is directing Suriya for the first time, for the actor’s straight Telugu film. Despite meeting Telugu audiences all these years through dubbed films, Suriya finally stepped forward to do a straight film with the director who gave big hits to Dulquer Salmaan and Dhanush. Titled Viswanath & Sons, the film’s teaser already caught the attention of moviegoers.
Interestingly, the situation has completely changed now. While Karuppu carried only mixed buzz before its release, Viswanathan & Sons enjoyed much stronger pre-release excitement.
However, after Karuppu emerged as a blockbuster and won widespread appreciation, the tables have turned. The film’s massive success has significantly raised expectations, putting Viswanathan & Sons under immense pressure.
Surprisingly, what once looked like the safer project must now match or surpass Karuppu’s impact at the box office and among audiences.
With Karuppu close to minting 300 Cr rupees in global box office revenue, it is natural that the deals with Viswanath & Sons will also be fancy. Moreover, Suriya is coming up with a family entertainer this time which will usually have a universal appeal. It is indirectly adding pressure on the team to shape the film in an entertaining manner,
Bankrolled by Sithara Entertainments, the film also features Mamitha Baiju as the female lead in the film.
