Lauren Sánchez Filmed Dancing On The Red Carpet At The Met Gala
This year’s Met Gala, which was considered controversial from the start, had a whole lot of viral moments worth talking about. From iconic looks to certain celebrity interactions, there was a lot discussed amongst social media users looking on from home.
One of the honored guests people had their eyes on from the start was Lauren Sánchez Bezos, who received a lot of backlash after her husband reportedly spent $10M to score her a spot as a co-chair for the event, despite their lack of experience in fashion and the arts. She quickly started gaining buzz after arriving in a dark blue gown deemed “boring” by social media users, and after getting spotted busting a move.
As the red carpet opened up that night, Broadway star Joshua Henry sang a rendition of Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” on the famous steps, alongside a 12-person choir. At the bottom of the steps, Lauren, as well as Nicole Kidman and the evening’s host, Anna Wintour, were subtly dancing to the music. Lauren was seen clapping along, rather stiffly swaying from side to side. You can see footage of her dancing here!

Social Media Users Slam Lauren’s Dancing
There was a lot about the former television personality’s presence at this year’s gala that bothered people both on social media and in the fashion industry. Just before the gala, insiders even noted that industry workers said her being a co-chair was like a “slap in the face.”
Therefore, it’s not that much of a surprise that once users caught a glimpse of Lauren “awkwardly” dancing to the event’s live music, which she’s been seen doing before, users across various platforms started slamming her in comment sections.
One Instagram user called the moment “beyond cringe,” as another wrote, “I’m embarrassed for them all.”
“It feels so tacky,” commented another.
“Lauren Sánchez is so performative,” added a user.
“So painful to watch,” wrote another.
We’ll be curious to see if Lauren ever busts out some more moves during such a highly publicized event, but if she’s reading some of the same comments, she might just choose to stay still from now on.
