Last month, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire not only became the best-selling compact sedan but also the best-selling car in the country. But the compact sedan market was not always dominated by the Marutis. Long before, Tata was not just the segment leader; they actually introduced the compact sedan to Indians with their Indigo CS. And today, Tata is offering the Tigor, the successor of the Indigo CS, in the compact sedan segment. But given competition from the Dzire, the automaker will likely introduce a Tigor facelift in the near future. Here is everything you need to know about it-

Tata Tigor Facelift-

The Tata Tigor became one of the very few initial cars in the Indian market that focused not just on features but also on safety. Tigor is an attractive offering from the automaker because of its multiple powertrain options. But the once rivals are being offered more features and are sure gaining more numbers, to fix that, here is what we can expect to be changed in the upcoming facelift-

Looks-

The overall coupe-like silhouette of the Tigor is likely to remain unchanged. However, it could get cosmetic changes, including a redesigned front grille with chrome accents or even body-coloured inserts, as seen on the latest Safari and Harrier. Other changes could be made to make the car look sleeker, like refreshed LED lighting and DRLs.
To the rear, we could expect the chrome insert connecting the taillamps to be replaced with an LED strip, giving the connected taillamp treatment. We could also expect some new colour combinations to be offered along with newer alloy wheels. What about the cabin experience?

Interiors & Features-

Inside the cabin, the Tigor offers a fairly premium-feeling interior, whether it be the 10.25-inch infotainment screen or the new steering wheel with dual-leather touch. Other features, such as a 360-degree camera, automatic climate control, cruise control, push-button start, auto-folding ORVMs, rain-sensing wipers and connected-car technology, are expected to continue to be offered. Tata might introduce ventilated seats and a single-panel sunroof with the facelift. As a Tata, the Tigor is a reasonably safe car with a 4-star safety rating from GNCAP, and with the facelift, this can improve even further.
Powertrain-

Mechanically, the Tata Tigor facelift is expected to continue with the existing powertrain options. The compact sedan will likely retain the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that currently produces around 85bhp and 113Nm of torque. In the CNG version, the same engine produces lower output figures of around 72bhp and 95Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT. Also, their only battery pack option for the Tigor EV is a 26 kWh pack, producing about 74bhp and 170Nm of torque.
Rivals-
Over the years, we have seen the compact sedan market shrink as SUVs have risen in popularity. But some compact sedans like the Dzire still hold their own against SUVs in the Indian market. Tigor’s major rival will be the Maruti Suzuki Dzire itself. A considerable amount of Dzire sales also comes from the fleet segment as well. Other direct rivals to the Tigor include the Honda Amaze and Hyundai Aura. Which one would you pick?
Expected Launch & Pricing-
While there is no official word on the Tigor facelift launch, we can expect the updated model to be introduced by late 2026 or early 2027. The current generation of the Tata Tigor is being priced between Rs 6.53 lakh and Rs 10.01 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). With updates, we can expect the price hike of about Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000.
