Lenovo opens sales of Legion Tab (Gen 5) in the US for $849

Lenovo has just opened up sales of its new Legion Tab (Gen 5) in the US, with the compact Android gaming tablet costing a whopping $849.

Announced earlier this year, Legion Tab (Gen 5) is the latest iteration of Lenovo’s gaming-focused compact Android tablet. The slate has an 8.8-inch display to showcase a powerhouse under the hood. That includes Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, 12GB of RAM, 256GB of UFS 4.1 Pro storage, and Android 16 out of the box too. The display itself is also upgraded, with the IPS panel hitting 165Hz with 3040 x 1904 resolution, well up from the prior generation. The battery is now 9,000 mAh as well, another huge upgrade.

But, as with anything in 2026, it comes at a cost.

Lenovo Legion Tab (Gen 5) costs $849 in the US, a $300 price hike over the prior generation. Legion Tab (Gen 3) was quite a ways behind, notably, with 2024’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip leading the charge alongside slower UFS 4.0 storage, but the price hike this year can almost surely be attributed to the skyrocketing cost of RAM.

Also notable is that, right now, Legion Tab (Gen 5) is available solely in “Eclipse Black,” with the vibrant “Surge” green and the white color both missing.

Still, if you’re looking for a powerful but compact Android tablet, this is your best bet. Will you get one?
