DDR5 RAM Prices Finally Crack In Japan As 64 GB Kits Dip Below $489 For First Time In Four Months

You will be extremely lucky if you can buy a 64 GB RAM kit for under $500 these days, but some retailers in Japan are indeed selling it for such a low price.

Several DDR5 RAM Kits in Japan See a Sudden Price Decline of Up To 22% Compared to Previous Months

Prices for several DDR5 RAM kits have dropped sharply in Japan mid-April, making them more affordable than they were in the previous months. We all have been waiting for such price drops, but every time we see some relief, the prices shoot up quickly in a few days. Hopefully, the prices decline on a regular basis such as RAM kits that are selling for much lower at the moment in Japan vs last month.

As reported by AKIBA PC, many DDR5 and DDR4 RAM kits are selling at a record low price when take the price trends of the last four months. The prices are still several times higher compared to the last year, but even a 10% decline is seen as a sign of relief these days. As per the latest listings spotted on some retailers, this is the first time in the last four months when a 64 GB (32 GB x2) DDR5-4800 RAM kit has dropped below 80,000 Yen or US$489, which is around 21.8% of price reduction vs last month. For sub-$500 you probably won’t find a 64 GB DDR5 desktop RAM kit in most parts of the world as most retailers are currently selling them at over $800.

For $400-$500, you can mostly buy a 32 GB DDR5 RAM kit, which is around 4X higher than the usual rates we use to see last year. Similarly, some more 64 GB DDR5 RAM kits have seen around 10% price reduction in Japan, including the DDR5-5600, 6000, and 6400 Kits. These are still selling for over 80,000 Yen, but it’s hard to buy them for less than 100,000 most of the time. As far as smaller capacity RAM kits are concerned, a 32 GB (16 GB x2) DDR5-5600 RAM kit is currently selling for under 50,000 yen (47,980 Yen to be exact or US$301). It used to sell for nearly 60,000 Yen, which means a ~20% price reduction.

High speed kits like Kingston Fury 16 GB x2 DDR5-7200 have also seen a good price reduction of 16% (now selling for 58,980 Yen or US$370) and there are several other 32 GB and 48 GB DDR5 kits, which have seen nearly 10% discount. SO-DIMM and DDR4 memories are also selling for the lowest compared to previous months, but we don’t know how long will these discounts continue as the market is pretty volatile with many regions witnessing price rebounds in a few days.
