2 Upcoming SUVs From Mahindra and Tata in Q2, 2026


Mahindra and Tata Motors, the two homegrown passenger vehicle manufacturers are planning to launch multiple new SUVs in the Indian market over the period of next couple of years. However, both carmakers will start introducing all-new models in the country from January 2027 onwards. The next big Mahindra launch this year will be the Scorpio-N facelift. On the other hand, Tata will launch the Sierra EV. 

Tata Sierra EV

Tata Motors has announced to launch the Sierra EV in the second quarter of 2026, between April to June. It will be based on the Acti.ev platform that also underpins the Curvv EV. The new Sierra electric will take on the likes of the Mahindra BE 6 and the Hyundai Creta Electric. It is likely to be offered with two battery choices, including a 55kWh from Curvv.ev and 65kWh from Harrier.ev. The electric SUV will come with a front-axle-mounted electric motor as standard; however, the top-spec model will come with a dual-motor AWD (All-Wheel-Drive) setup. We expect the new Tata Sierra EV to offer a realistic range of up to 450km on a single charge.

Mahindra Scorpio-N Facelift

Expected to be launched in Q2, 2026, the 2026 Mahindra Scorpio-N facelift will receive changes to its plastic parts. The SUV receive design and interior changes along with a longer list of features; however, mechanics remain the same. It will come with a completely redesigned front fascia, featuring a new grille, revised headlamps with LED DRLs, and an updated bumper. Other changes will include new alloys, an upgraded bumper and revised tail-lights.

Inside the cabin, the SUV is expected to get a larger touchscreen infotainment unit, a Harman Kardon audio system with Dolby Atmos, a Panoramic sunroof, a fully-digital TFT instrument cluster, an electrically adjustable front seats, etc. It will continue to be offered with the existing 2.2L turbo diesel and 2.0L turbo petrol engines. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
