This December, MS Dhoni is likely to be joined by fellow Team India superstars in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
According to a report in the Times of India, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane and others may participate in the domestic ODI tournament if the Pakistan tour does not materialize.
“With an uncertainty over the India-Pakistan tour, the top India stars are likely to play the domestic ODI matches. The Indian team management will take a call on which player will be fit to play for his respective state and who all will be asked to take rest. The assessment of the top players will be done after the South African series gets over,” a source told TOI on Thursday.
The Vijay Hazare Trophy offers the Indian cricketers a perfect platform to prepare for the short ODI series in Australia next January.
“Prior to the World T20, the Sri Lankans are going to play in India and the bowlers will have to be in good shape for the big tournament. So, there won’t be any extra push for the Indian hopefuls to play those domestic games,” the source further added.
