Twilight actor Robert Pattinson is in negotiations to play Batman in Matt Reeves forthcoming superhero film, which is expected to hit theaters on June 25, 2021.
While it has not been confirmed as yet, Pattinson is a strong contender and the decision will be made soon, sources close to Warner Bros told. Warner Bros, who are producing the film, has made no comment yet. Pre-production on the film is expected to start this summer.
Reeves, who had directed the last two Planet Of The Apes sequels, and has been developing the Batman project ever since.
If 32-year-old Pattinson is indeed the next Batman, he will be the youngest actor to ever play the caped crusader on screen. Christian Bale immortalized the character in the Christopher Nolan films. However, Ben Affleck’s Batman was met with mostly negative responses. Affleck had starred in Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad.
Pattinson became an overnight sensation after he acted as the sultry vampire Edward Cullen in the Twilight series. He was paired opposite Kristen Stewart, who played his love interest. Prior to this, he played Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire.
This year, Pattinson will be seen in four films, High Life, The Lighthouse, The King and Waiting For Barbarians.
