Sunny Leone’s new sexcom Mastizaade failed to fire at the box-office, and A-list projects continue to elude the Indo-Canadian ex-porn star. So, Bollywood’s diva of oomph is these days wholly focused on turning entrepreneur.
On Monday, 34-year-old screen siren Sunny unveiled her team Chennai Swaggers that will play in the second season of Box Cricket League, a reality show cricket tournament backed by Ekta Kapoor and featuring prominent television stars as players.
At the event, Sunny justified her buying a cricket team by saying that although she loved several other games, she had developed a passion for cricket after coming to India.
“I love sports and have been closely associated with various sports all my life. Soccer is one of my favorite sports and I played it ever since I was very little. I also played ping-pong, volleyball and basketball growing up,” Sunny explained.
“But with cricket it is something I have grown to be passionate about. It is something I enjoy watching. People in India love cricket and I have grown fond of the game ever since I moved here,” added Sunny, who officially bought the team last week.
She, however, admitted she was yet to learn the nitty-gritties of the game.
“I didn’t watch a lot of cricket growing up but I would hear my father talk about it. If he was alive, all this would be for him,” said Sunny, adding that she is a fan of Sachin Tendulkar.
Meanwhile, as she learns new things about cricket, Sunny has decided to play out her role of a motivator for her players.
“I hope Chennai Swaggers manage to kick butt and win some games. The plan is to win as many games as possible this season. I love being a motivator and cheering players, getting them off the ground, getting them angry to want to win, getting them hyped up!” said Sunny, whose upcoming films are skin flicks One Night Stand and Beiimaan Love.
Sunny came into Bollywood via a reality show route herself. She first became a ‘popular’ face on Indian television with her stint in Bigg Boss.
Her older profession of being an adult star was kept a secret from the other Bigg Boss housemates initially.
But when they finally all got to know about it – they welcomed her into the fray.
That moment was almost prophetic because that is exactly how Bollywood seems to have accepted her.
Sunny’s first Bollywood film was Mahesh Bhatt’s erotic thriller Jism 2 opposite Randeep Hooda and Arunoday Singh.
Chennai Swaggers have a handful of familiar names from the world of small screen, including Rithwik Dhanjani, Mouni Roy and Sangram Singh.
Sunny has given each of her players a name, to define their playing style.
