There is more trouble for the Aam Aadmi Party ahead of Delhi elections.
Delhi Police says the 8,000 bottles of liquor seized from a warehouse in Uttam Nagar last month belong to Naresh Balyan, the AAP candidate from the Uttam Nagar constituency, said a Times of India report on Tuesday.
“Further investigations have indicated that the liquor belongs to one of the candidates from Uttam Nagar constituency, Naresh Balyan, who is also a sitting Municipal Councillor from Nawada in South Delhi Municipal Corporation,” Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav was quoted as telling the newspaper.
Police said Balyan was told to join investigations but he had not cooperated so far.
Yadav said Balyan had been served notice but he has sought time till the elections (February 7).
He has again been asked to join probe by February 11.
Election Commission officials had seized the liquor bottles on January 30.
