Samsung Galaxy S4 Active, the rough and tough version of the flagship Samsung Galaxy S4 has been making the news since a couple of weeks. Though Samsung is yet to confirm the device, images and even a video have been spotted doing rounds of the net.
One picture of the phone shows the results from an AnTuTu test, pointing towards a quad-core Qualcomm 1.9GHz processor along with an Adreno 320 GPU ticking inside. This indicates that the Active will be getting the Snapdragon 600 chipset. The screen looks to be of the same size as a Galaxy S, but we don’t know the exact size of it. What we do know is that it will be a full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The source of the images also claims that the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active has an 8 megapixel rear camera, unlike the 13MP sensor of the S4.
The phone is expected to launch in mid-July and will challenge Sony’s Xperia Z and Xperia ZR phones. Samsung Galaxy S4 Active was rumoured to debut in a bright orange shade. However, as leaks suggest, the phone will come not in Orange but in a bright Red colour. Unlike Samsung Galaxy S4, Samsung Galaxy S4 Active comes with hardware buttons and a different, screwed on back. We like the fact that Samsung has moved on from the same old mundane design and experimented with Samsung Galaxy S4 Active. However, the hardware buttons at the bottom give the phone a blast-from-the-past feel.
Overall, the specs and the new design for a Samsung phone has piqued our interests in this phone. There’s no word on when we will be seeing an official unveiling of the S4 Active.
