Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday made an emphatic speech in the Lok Sabha taking pot-shots at Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj. He said Sushma was the only philanthropist in the world who did charity in full secrecy.
“Sushma ji is the only philanthropist in the world who does charity in full secrecy. The big question is, why she hid it from PM Modi and whether PM Modi knew about it,” he said in a Parliament debate on Lalitgate.
He also slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Our PM had said ‘na khaunga na khaane dunga,’ but today he does not have the guts to sit in this chair to face our questions,” he said.
Making a personal attack at Sushma, he said: “Yesterday, Sushma ji held my hands and said ‘beta why you are disappointed with me.’ I said Sushma ji I am not disappointed at you. I am just saying the truth. Sushma shifted her glance after I said that.”
Rahul was responding to Swaraj’s barb that Congress his father, former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi allowed save passage to Bhopal Gas tragedy villain Warren Anderson and Bofors deal middlemen Ottavio Quattrocchi.
