It’s no secret that actor Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor ended their relationship a few years ago and have now put it behind them. Katrina is now on good terms with Ranbir’s current girlfriend Alia Bhatt as well as his former girlfriend Deepika Padukone, who is now married to Ranveer Singh. The actor has now revealed how she dealt with the break-up and learnt to protect her identity as a woman.
Talking about life post the split and how she handled it, Katrina told in an interview, “I had to break before I could proceed to rebuild myself. I had to unravel and feel everything that had happened… I had to take full responsibility for my part in the equation, what I could and should have done better… And accept that the parts that I was not responsible for were not my problem. One thought that helped me when I was at my lowest was something my mom told me, “So many girls and women go through the same thing, you feel you are alone, but you are not.” That thought was very comforting.” Katrina, however, didn’t name anyone.
Katrina added that still believes in love, the actor said, “I’ve always been emotional. I’m a Cancerian and a sensitive soul. I’m not going to lose that or change that for anyone. But what I have learnt is that as a woman, you must protect and maintain your identity.”
“I’m not saying be guarded in love. No, love with all your heart. Being in a relationship is beautiful and I have a lot to give to a person. But I know now that nobody else gives you your identity,” she added.
Katrina featured in two of the biggest Bollywood releases of 2018 – Zero and Thugs of Hindostan. Both the films crashed at the box office but Katrina was noticed for her performance. She had played an alcoholic superstar in Zero whereas her dance numbers in Thugs of Hindostan drew praise.
She will now be seen as Kumud in Salman Khan starrer Bharat and was introduced by the actor as ‘Madam Sir’. The film is the big Eid release of the year and hits the theaters on June 5.
