Kabir Singh BEATS Kalank to become Bollywood’s 4th highest opening weekend grosser of 2019

Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani’s Kabir Singh has set the cash registers ringing ever since it released on June 21.

The movie was one of the most exciting films of the year and it has completely taken over the ticket window. In its first weekend, it raked in Rs 70.83 crore, which is huge considering the screen space it got! But that’s not it Kabir Singh has achieved several feats. In fact, the film has beaten Kalank in its opening weekend, and became Bollywood’s 4th highest opening weekend grosser of 2019. Huge, isn’t it?

If you look at the first weekend collections of each Bollywood release of 2019, you will realize what we are talking about it.

Currently, Salman Khan’s Bharat (Rs 150.10 crore) is the highest opening weekend grosser of 2019. Kesari (Rs 78 crore) and Gully Boy (Rs 72 crore) complete the top 3, and Kabir Singh (Rs 70.83 crore) is on the fourth spot. Kalank (Rs 62.75 crore), Total Dhamaal (Rs 62.40 crore), Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi (Rs 41 crore), Student of the Year 2 (Rs 39 crore), De De Pyaar De (Rs 3 crore) and Uri: The Surgical Strike (Rs 35 crore) complete the list of Bollywood’s top 10 opening weekend grossers of 2019 till now.

Kabir Singh has been so successful because of the performances and execution. Despite the scathing reviews by a few critics, the audience loved the movie and gave it thumbs up. This enabled a fantastic word of mouth publicity to be developed, which worked in its favor.
