Kate Winslet is “determined” to win the Best Supporting Actress at the forthcoming BAFTA Awards, which will be aired on Sunday (February 14).

The 40-year-old is nominated for the prestigious award for her performance as Joanna Hoffman in Steve Jobs, a biopic on the late Apple co-founder, reports

“I don’t know if I’m necessarily hopeful (about winning), but I’m just more determined at this point. You know I really do just feel it’s been an amazing year, it’s been a great year for women in film but this particular category of Best Supporting Actress, it’s been really quite up in the air…”

“You know people have been floating in and out of this category, I won the Golden Globe, I was so fortunate to have won that but at the same time there’s no shoe-in … Root for me on Sunday, let’s take it home for the Brits,” Winslet added.

The Titanic star will have stiff competition in the category from Alicia Vikander for Ex Machina, Jennifer Jason Leigh for The Hateful Eight, Julie Walters for Brooklyn and Rooney Mara for Carol.

She said, “I think that it’s anyone’s guess really. I wouldn’t want to be putting a bet on who’s going to win this award because who knows. I’m not going to go down the bookies that’s for sure!”
