Akshay Kumar fans have newer reasons to rejoice. The actor’s latest offering, Gabbar Is Back, has stormed the Box Office and how! The opening day collections of the film have been confirmed as Rs.13.05 crores, which make it the highest Bollywood opener of 2015.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted to confirm the Friday figures.
The film released yesterday (May 1) to outstanding attendance at single screen theatres. The footfall at multiplexes was comparatively lower, but better than what most other Bollywood films have been able to achieve this year.
Akshay Kumar’s Gabbar Is Back has been able to break the Box Office lull, which the year had seen so far.
The film is a re-make of AR Murugadoss’ Tamil Ramanaa, and has been directed by Krish. It stars Akshay Kumar, Shruti Haasan and Suman Talwar in pivotal roles. Kareena Kapoor Khan appears in a cameo. Gabbar Is Back is the story of a ‘villain’ who goes to extreme lengths to ensure that corruption is eradicated from the country.
